Photo Editing Ethnics
positives & benefits of photo editing
There may be down sides to photoshop, but there are also so many benefits. Say you have a family picture that you absolutely love, but there is a random dog running through as the picture was being taken. Instead of taking a brand new photograph, you can just use photoshop to edit the dog out! Another big thing that it is being used for now a days, is to edit old pictures, that are cracked and torn, into nice new ones; and its not that difficult to do, it just takes some time. You can also edit the background, change colours, etc.

the Darkroom Rule
Originally photo journalists thought that Photoshop should only be used to do what you were able to do in a dark room, which included adjusting the brightness of a picture, and changing the exposure. You weren't able to do things like add a person to a photo or just change the colour of someone's eyes for instance.

Often Photoshop can go over the top, creating a perfect being that would never exist in real life, but it also creates so many new possibilities. You can use it to see your visual ideas, and your dreams, come to life right in front of you, making beautiful professional art. Studies have shown that you can make a picture look much better by just using proper lighting, no Photoshop used at all. And you need to think: if you are against photo editing, what are your thoughts on makeup? They're practically the same thing, just different ways of achieving the same outcome, just more effects and tools accessible using Photoshop.

places & things Photoshop is not only used for people; its also used noon places and objects. One main thing that we see every day that we don't necessarily think about is real estate. Real estate agents will often photoshop a new sky into a picture of a house they are trying to sell, because it may be a nice picture just bad weather. They may even make the grass greener; but some people go way over board, photoshopping a whole entire lawn into a photo, or changing the placement of something so that it looks better. Theres a fine line between whats ok, and what is to much in tourism. http://www.real-estate-video-tours.com/images/before_after.jpg

Photoshop is great and can be useful for so many different things, but some people forget that some people don't know that something has been altered. Youth are the ones who read all of our magazines and don't realize that every picture is fake, that those perfect models that they see on the runway, don't really look like that. They need to know that nobody is perfect because some kids go and try to lose weight so that they're as thin looking as the celebrities that they know, and that they don't need makeup too look beautiful.
