CREATIVITY: How does it work?
This documentary was on figuring out how moments of creativity happen. Many people had various ideas on how to test how creative people are, starting off with mind games. seemingly simple puzzles were used to get people thinking, the thrill of solving the puzzle created an inside moment, a spark of creativity, and that was hard to study. One activity that they did was proven to be more difficult then what they expected. A pyramid was set up, point down, with a $100 bill underneath it, and the question was how to get it out from underneath it with out ripping it. Hints were set up, changing every few seconds, and they found that the right hemisphere of the brain was more sensitive to the hints then the left side.
After watching this video, I came away with many interesting ideas on how creativity works in the brain. After analyzing hundreds of hours of brain activity, scientists came to the conclusion that creativity happens on the side of the brain. The left side doesn't really react, but the right side does, as there is as the hemispheres have a large structural difference, the herons branching more broadly and further on the right side, while the left are short and close together. The thing that I found the coolest though, was that creativity begins with a problem, one that logic can't solve, getting the subconscious to stir, causing the brain to go blank for a second. Bursts of data waves then induce in-site. There is an overlap between creativity and intelligence. The processes are similar on the outside, but the inside is different; instead of being fast and to the point, creativity is a long winding road. The road less traveled.
